About my Studio

Expression, Efficiency, Musicality, Improvisation

My teaching focuses on these four pillars listed above. I believe that music is an art form that can be used to express ones emotions and that learning the language of music will aid in this expression. Playing your instrument efficiently is extremely important, it helps to avoid injury, puts your mind at ease while playing, and increases muscle control and bodily awareness. I also use improvisation in my teaching. This was a huge part of my own learning and can be a very playful and fun approach to learning new musical ideas. Improvisation can also help to expand creativity and is a vital part of many styles of music, including rock, jazz, blues, and funk.

Students of mine will also learn to play songs and use these songs as a way to apply and learn musical concepts and theory. I also teach songwriting and focus on teaching different approaches and methods to creating songs. New students are encouraged to ponder their goals in playing the guitar, whether they be playing for fun, studying to audition for a school or program, writing an album, or becoming a shredder. Stating clear goals is important in helping students to progress.

If you would like to sign up for lessons, head to my contact page and send me a message. I can arrange a time to talk on the phone about scheduling. Students must also sign this contract prior to lessons.
